Q: What’s a similar drug to Abilify?
One that has low side affects and doesn’t cost $300 for 30 pills? I’m looking for something in the range of $10-20.
I couldn’t pick mine up today because I couldn’t afford it. My insurance will only cover part and I need something that has low side affects but is cheap.
I’m planning to call my Dr. tomorrow in the morning. It’s 11 PM right now, their office is closed, and by the time I was able to attempt to pick up my meds it was after office hours as well. I just want to know what else is out there that other people have experience with so if my Dr mentions a med recommended by anyone on here I can know how much it will cost me. My insurance is Aetna but I have to meet a $200 deductible for rx coverage and I can’t afford to.
He didn’t tell me what I had but I think he was hinting at BPD or Schizo. He wants me to see a psychiatrist to work out what else I’ll need.
A: You dont say why u are taking it. If u r taking it for bipolar, a cheaper alternative is lithium. However, it doesnt come without side effects. The older drugs are cheaper because they are off patent.
Also try a state-funded facility. That is cheaper also.

Q: Alternatives for Seroquel?
I took Abilify for several years, but asked my doctor to try something new as my co-pays for Abilify were very high. He prescribed Seroquel and I have been on it since November of last year. My co-pay is still $100/month for it, but it is cheaper than the Abilify. My problem is that even though I haven’t made any lifestyle changes and eat even less than I used to due to nerve damage in my stomach, I have gain a LOT of weight. I have probably put on 50lbs easy since starting this medication. Are there any other drugs in this class to treat bi-polar disorder that aren’t so expensive and have less side effects (i.e. weight gain)? Thanks
Additional information: I am already on Lamictal and Trazodone as well as several other medications for conditions unrelated to my bi-polar. I also have had Type 1 diabetes for over 20 years. Tight blood glucose control requires alot of insulin for me which also makes losing weight difficult.
A: Other drugs in this class are Geodon, Risperdal, and zyprexa. Zyprexa causes major weight gain and diabetes though.
Q: I am bipolar and my insurance runs out this month……should I continue with meds that are expensive?
My doctor is going to take me off of Abilify which would cost about 450 a month. I am currently on Depakote but with it you need blood work for it every so often, which I won’t be able to afford either. I am on Xanax, which I think is pretty cheap. I also take Nexium for my acid reflux. How do I not worry about this all the time? I am out of a job too….and applied for disability which could take awhile if I even get it. I am really not very functionable and can’t work. I can barely move due to anxiety and worry and depression. I can barely even take a bath every so many days. How can I leave this worry behind. I know God will help me but I am so concerned.

A: You should get a psychiatric social worker, they can guide you on programs to help you with these things. POPs cards are used for psychotropic medications, making them a lot more in reach for those who can not afford it. Try this as well…

Depending on your income you can apply for disability, and in time get medicare. If you are approved for disability benefits, depending on how much money you get per month, you may also qualify for medicaid.
Q: Help with emancipation…?
Hello, i need info and help on emancipation and getting a job my dad became very angry at me as a kid and beet me A LOT my mom got scared and kept saying stop stop every time as i grew i became very angry and depressed i am adhd and odd i take stratera and abilify which helps me control my anger and my mood im not using as an exuse i am 16 years old i act like an adult im good with children and everyone treats me like crap my dad uses me and treats me like crap i want to get emancipated and live on my own because of that show people i can and become what i am im a very nice guy its just my past is still with people i need to change this so i am deciding
1) can i get a full time job while still in school?
2) what year can i get a GED if needed?
3) will i still recieve money even with my ADHD and ODD?
4) how much could i probably afford for a house?
5) could friends support me if family cant?
6) what jobs could i get to make enough money to pay for clothes, shelter, food, gas, insurance (if i need it), meds. etc?
7) what else would i pay for on my own if any?
will i still have government to pay for my private school?
9) i live in virginia should i move out of state and go somewhere maybe cheaper?
10) what else do i need to know?
11) can i get fulltime job at my age?
12) what kind of shelter should i get rent a house rent apartment or town house etc.?
13) how much would i make as fulltime job at 16?

- i get all A’s and B’s
- im very smart
- im hard worker
- im very helpfull
- im very nice
- i can tell someone if somethings wrong (i could tell the manager straight up that this guy is being a jerk etc. without being scared (thats only if it comes down to it) i can deal with many things.)
- if someone needs help i will help them if i can or ill try
- im straight up with people if they have done something wrong like if someones wrong and they are dissing me ill let them know
- im act like an adult im not immiture when im around kids i am very nice i like act their age well not act it but just make them happy (my cousin is 12 and thinks of me as a brother)
- i dont take things from outside work to work
- i will do as asked at work

Well first thing you need to think about is can I do this? If yes then think about all the ather things that go with it…
-Full time job while in school–grades will fall you will be tired all the time and not have a life.
-If your grades are good why settle for a GED? Its not as good as a degree and will limits future oppertunities
-Not sure what money you mean? Child support? Not really if you are saying you what to be an adult…
-House, not a chance, no credit, low income–Banks will LOL at you
-Will your friends support you, they may say yes, but if it does not work out then what?
-Job’s depends on what you qualify for. Stocking shelves in stors or working the counter. Have you seen the economy lately? Jobs are hard to come by
- You will need to buy everything you need.
-Privet school will be on you–even to get grants
-You will need to live where you can work, cheaper places have higher unemplyment
-What else you need to know, This is a very hard move and and will cost alot now and in the future. Its also not a good idea…
- Can you get a Full time job, YES, if someone will hire you already having a full time job (school)
-Whatever you can afford…wont be much…low income APT’s will be your only choice
- Dont think anyone would pay you more than min wage at 16. Even at 18/20 min wage is all you should expect
About you being nice or ablity to tell the boss this is wrong or guys being a jerk is not how the real world works. You will lose you job, and respect of co-workers.
Bottom line is stay in school get the education then look to the future. Starting early will only limit you oppertunities later.
