Q: Is Bupropion HCL XL 300mg. tabanc the same as Bupropion XL 300 mg tablet tev?
The tablets are very different. Bupropion HCL XL 300 mg. tabanc is a a round white tablet with A 102 on each tablet.
The Bupropion XL 300mg Tablet tev is an oblong yellow tablet.
A: sounds like you are getting generics that happen to be made by different companies.
I would however check with the pharmacy you got them from to be sure they didn’t give you the wrong pill
Q: Should I stop taking bupropion sr (Wellbutrin) if I get these kind of side effects..?
I started taking bupropion sr tablets less than a week ago. I’m taking 150 mg/day. I realize that there are certain side effects that you can get.. but these seem somewhat extreme to me and I’m wondering if maybe I should consult my doctor or stop taking them immediately. I feel really lightheaded most of the day, I have trouble concentrating, I feel sick, I can’t sleep (keep waking up over and over). I have also been very short tempered with everyone (pretty irate) and in ANY kind of stressful situation, even if someone is yelling (not at me) I start shaking and feel like I’m going to have a panic attack. I just generally feel completely out of it. It’s not completely affecting my normal day-to-day functions but I definitely could not live like this constantly. So do these side effects maybe only last the first couple weeks? Or is this not normal and I should go see my doctor.
I was on Celexa but it was making me eat too much and gain weight. Wellbutrin has lower weight gain side effects so my doctor switched me to it. I’m taking it for anxiety. And I didn’t have any of these side effects before I started taking it, there is no doubt in my mind that these side effects are from the medication, not a previous mental issue. Whethere I’m having a bad reaction to the medication, or it’s making my condition worse I don’t know. I’m not taking this medication to quit smoking, however I was an occasional smoke before I took it (like 1 cigarette a day) and stopped cold turkey when I started Wellbutrin because I heard smoking + taking it can increase risk of seizures/blood pressure and I didn’t want to have either of those side effects.
A: If you are taking this medication as an aid to stop smoking then you need to stop taking it now. If you are taking it for depression then you need to ask the doctor to lower the dose. The medication is raising your anxiety levels, and more than likely your blood pressure too…a lower dose would be alot more appropriate until your body can adjust.
Q: Bupropion XL and Nightmares?
I was diagnosed with Major Depression and prescribed Bupropion XL 300mg tablets and was instructed to take it once a day.
Any of you who have taken it, have you ever experienced any nightmares? The kinds I’ve been having are very vivid and realistic and I can explain them in detail. Before I was never able to remember any of my dreams good or bad until now.
A: Hi Mary, it sounds like you have just started taking the Bupropion. What you’re probably experiencing is “break-in” side effects, people sometimes get them when they first start taking an antidepressant. They usually last a couple weeks or so, then go away. I had very bizarre and vivid dreams that went away.
I don’t know if you’re taking 300 mg pills, if you are and you get some nausea from it, you might take two 150 mg pills – the first when you get up in the morning, and the second at lunchtime.
Q: Is Wellbutrin-XL (bupropion hydrochloride) available in generic form?
This is a new medication I am on. When I got it filled at the pharmacy (Rite-Aid), they charged me $90 and gave me the trade name, Wellbutrin-XL, in 150 mg. They told me that a generic drug is not made. When I told them I was a nursing student and had literature stating that there was a generic available, they told me that it was only generically available in 300 mg tablets and that I was prescribed 150 mg tablets. I am only supposed to take 150 mg for a few days (to get my body used to it), then I am supposed to start taking two 150 mg tablets, or 300 mg a day. I know that the generic (bupropion hydrochloride) Wellbutrin-XL was approved for use by the FDA in 2006. So, why did I get slapped w/ a fee for a trade name drug and an argument that there is no generic? If I’m wrong, let me know. But, right now I feel as if I will be filling all of my prescriptions elsewhere!
A: Only the 300 mg is available in generic. The 150 mg is only available in brand name. I’m work in psychiatry so I know this is true. There are many sources online that state that the 150 XL is available in generic, but that is false.
Also, you can NOT split the 300 mg XL dose, this is an extended release tablet and must be swallowed whole. If you split the tablet, that will cause you to absorb 24 hours of medication in about 45 mins, you will have serious stomach upset.
Q: has any one actually had a seizure from zyban (bupropion hcl)?
today i chewed 3 150 sr tablets and have been drinking beer and smoking pot all day and i still feel like im in control maybe i just have a very high tolerance? but it did get me heaps wasted for like 4 hours
A: Uh, I think it’s the pot and beer that’s got ya wasted, sunshine.
But yeah, it can cause seizures because it builds up in the body, which is how you can overdose on it.
Q: It is bad to take Concerta and Wellbutrin at the same time?
I’m taking 18 mg of Concerta once a day and 150 mg of Bupropion SR twice a day. Should I take the first dose of Bupropion with the Concerta? Hopefully there are a few shrinks here! Any comments on maximum alcohol intake? Also, if I take a small tablet of Trazodone for sleep, is that contraindicated as well? Thanks guys.
A: bottomline, do not take alcohol with the meds.
Q: Wellbutrin starter(Bupropion). Your experience/results with med?
Hi!!! I was prescribed Wellbutrin for clinical depression and anxiety. This is my 6th day taking 1 tablet at 150 mg. By day 10, will be taking 2 tablets a day 300mg. As of today, I still have the major depression and moody feeling in which been suffering for 4 months. The only effect I see is an increase in sex drive. I just want the depression to go away and enjoy living life. Am I being impatient with this medicine? How long does it take to work? Looking for anybody to share positive stories about this medicine. I have hope I can beat this depression. Thank you!!!!
A: it can take up to 2 to 3 weeks before you see results, but be patient, it works.
Q: i was just prescribed buPROPion hydrochloride (generic for wellbutrin) and have a few questions about it?
hi,
i was prescribed this for depression and im supose to take one 150mg tablet every morning. i did a little research on the medication and its uses. it says its an anti-depressant, a smoking cession aid and is known to help ADHD.
my mom took me to the doc for depression when all i want is something to help me focus in class because i can never seem to do that i zone off, my mind is never where its suppose to be. and i want something that will help me stay awake which is extremely difficult, i sleep all the time and i dont just say “hey its time for a nap” i try to sit up and stay awake but its like im narcoleptic or something. i dont want to talk to anyone or go out i just want to sleep.
maybe these are signs of depression but all i want is to stay awake and focused so i can actually get something done for once. will this prescription help me?
thank you for your posts
ps, ive tried everything to keep me awake. ive taken several caffeine pills at a time, ive chugged coffee, ive tried every energy drink drank several at once, 5 hour energy also has no affect. ive tried these methods over and over again but they never work, i feel nothing or at the best i get a tingling sensation but no affect on alertness or my intentions of staying awake.
also does this drug affect your appetite or cause weight gains or loss?
thanx again
A: These sound like signs of depression to me. You definitely have anhadonia. Anyhow, every medication acts differently for depressed/ADHD people. So, you need to just try it out and see how it goes. Keep in mind, the medication does not work right away. It takes a good 3 to 6 weeks for it to show its affects and YOU will probably not notice the effects, however, everyone around you will. So keep an ear out for people saying you’re doing better. The thing you will notice is probably less sleeping and better grades.
Good luck, give it a try. If it doesn’t work, what have you lost
Q: Combination of medicine.. please help if you know anything about medicines?
ok so my psyc. is out of the office today so before you say “you need to talk to your doctor about it,” that’s a given, but I’m hoping maybe someone on here can help. I’m currently on 2 150 mg tablets of bupropion, a 300 mg tablet of Lamotrigine, and 5 0.5 tablets of clonazepam. I was on lower dosages a week or two back, but they stopped helping. So first we increased the clonazepam, and when that didn’t seem to help fully, we upped the Lamotigine. She was hesitant to do so because we still aren’t sure if I’m suffering from bipolar or depression. We’ve tried so many different combinations of medicine, and when one seems to finally work, it completely stops after a few weeks or months depending. Anyway, my question is, can taking these medicines in these dosages have the opposite effect then what they are supposed to be treating? (anxiety, depression, mood stabilizer). Or is something else wrong with me. For the past 4 days I have been a complete wreck and it’s a feeling like one I’ve never had before and I can’t really describe it. I guess the best way to put it is intense anxiety and intense depression at once. I’ve tried to fight it and be back to my normal self but It’s like I just can’t. my friends are noticing which is the worst part if it all. please help if you can.
I really wish I knew how to explain how I’m feeling better. But like I said, I’ve never had this emotion before. And it has been a continual thing for the past 4 days. I might do something that helps like hang out with friends etc, but it comes right back within an hour. Any ideas? It might not be medicine related at all, but that’s all I can think of that’s causing it because everything in my life is fine for the most part. It just randomly started one day and hasn’t gone away.
please help?
A: hey hun why not call your pharmacist & ask they 1 pill could be counter acting another~ it certainly wouldn’t hurt to ask♦
Q: stopped taking my anti-depressants?
ok um i take bupropion hydrochloride SR in 150 mg tablets twice a day.its a anti-depressant that is supposed to help with major depressive dissorder. i flushed the entire bottle of them this morning because i was frustrated and i thought it wasnt helping. and i know im gonna crash [go back to being depressed] i just want to know when and how hard.. cause i heard that if you take anti-depressants and you stop then your depression comes back alot worse. i dont want this to happen. so im kind of worried. so is it going to be bad?
A: I hope you mean by flush that you flush them down your toilet and not down your throat. I’m not sure how bad it comes back because I’ve never taken anti-depressants before but if you drink about 3 cups of tea like green tea or chamomile it relieves anxiety and all of that stuff. I heard that some anti-depressants are completely placebo’s and the one you used to take could be since you said it didn’t help. So in that you could probably completely avoid the crash of withdrawing just by telling yourself constantly that you will not be depressed and always thinking positively. On top of that get lots of exercise every day and always occupy yourself with entertaining things. Avoid being alone during the day as much as possible also. Getting exercise boosts the chemicals in the brain that promote happiness.
Q: How long until all these drugs leave my body, any permanent damage?
1. Dexamphetamine 30mg
2. Xanax (alprazolam) 2mg
3. Prinivil (lisinopril) 20mg
4. Temaze (Temazepam) 30mg
5. Buspar (Buspirone Hydrochloride) 30mg
6. Zyban (Bupropion Hydrochloride) 300mg
I really can’t be bothered explaining why I took all these drugs yesterday … well I can.
I’m a male in my early twenties diagnosed with anxiety, depression and ADHD disorders. After subsequent failure to treat me with Zoloft earlier this year (didn’t like the diminished libido, erectile dysfunction and genital sensory impairment) my doctor wanted to try this concoction – err, not all six – just Dexamphetamine which I had already been on for five months or so, and the newly added Buspar and Zyban for the anxiety and depression disorders.
So I started them both at the same time, was on them for nine days in total – yesterday being the last. I began on Zyban 150mg and Buspar 15mg, I worked my way up as directed by 5mg every three days with the Buspar, but the Zyban I only put up to 300mg after seven days instead of the three days I was told. This is because of the immense anxiety it seemed to produce … but I remained optimistic … until yesterday.
I had just polished off my last of the three daily dosing schedules which was 10mg of Dexamphetamine, 10mg of Buspar, and the second 150mg of Zyban. All four hours apart from about 7am, the Zyban is of course not included in the midday dose. About three hours pass and then …
Lying on my bed, I notice my heart beating hard, hard enough to notice my body moving back on forth on the bed. It wasn’t a rapid heart rate to begin with, just hard, and I had noticed this the day before too, probably since moving up to 300mg of Zyban. Then I took my blood pressure, about 100/170, not critical, but higher than my usual 83/133 or so. I would say based on the way I was feeling a little bit later, my blood pressure may have reached 120/200 – but I was in no condition to take my blood pressure then.
I began shaking excessively, became very anxious, very nervous, and naturally very worried about my wellbeing. I walked outside, became lightheaded for a few moments, I recall my arm felt warm for a bit and pressure was mounting on my head. The most concerning symptom was the feeling of my heart thudding very hard up and down in my chest, putting my hand to chest I felt the thuds on the surface and then looking at my hands, they were shaking uncontrollably. I decided I wouldn’t call the ambulance or go to the hospital and figured they wouldn’t do much different than what I can do with the medicines available to me in the house.
The first thing I did was go to my own cupboard and grabbed my bottle of Xanax (use as needed) for my tremendous anxiety and crunched up a 2mg bar in my mouth before washing it down with water (tastes horrible, unlike Temaze and Prinivil). I waited for what felt like 20 minutes with no change (long enough in my condition) and thought I’d better take care of my blood pressure and crunched up one of my fathers Prinivil tablets from the kitchen cupboard and took that down with water. My hands were still shaking tremendously and had to rip open the packet, I also noticed a popping sensation in my left ear and an acute onset of tinnitus.
Then I thought I’d better address my risk of seizures and grabbed my bottle of Temaze (use as needed) from my cupboard and swished three tablets in my mouth with water and bit them up a bit before taking them down. I then tried to sit in a chair and calm down – it took perhaps another forty minutes before noticing that I’m getting better, that is my heart didn’t feel like it was going to thud out of my body anymore, then I went to my bed and lied down.
I took my blood pressure not long thereafter and it was ok, about 90/100. I was ok for the following few hours, the only thing that didn’t go away was rapid heart rate, taking it manually (blood pressure unit is also a manual) by finger for ten seconds, it came in at about 120-130bpm, I imagine it must’ve been about 200bpm at its worst.
I then had a desire for fatty foods, so went to the store and bought some cheese cake, frozen lasagna and coke. Cooked it up, ate it, and thought that I was better off just going to sleep before my desire to eat kicked in and wasn’t all that confident I would wake up in the morning (given my life’s problems I didn’t think it was ALL that bad).
Well today, being alive, I obviously took nothing, my blood pressure this morning was good at about 80/130, but I still have tinnitus. I also recently noticed a pain in the right side of my stomach area … looking at a diagram, I’d say it’s the small intestine or something in that area, got any idea what it is?
Also have another two questions;
How long till all this crap leaves my bloodstream completely so I can comfortably go back on my Dexamphetamine? How long until my tinnitus goes away, it’s not permanent is it? It’s not likely any permanent damage has been done, right?
A: You are seriously endangering yourself by not having medical guidance during the discontinuation of your medications. Seizures and death are a couple of things that could happen.
Call you psychiatrist. Don’t be a fool.
Q: Drug Testing and the work place?
We have several Random drug test where I currently work and They evern bring a Canine to give the permission for vehicel both on and off the property. You don’t so, you have options either that you adhere of you leave the job site.
I don’t mind all this stuff as long as it gets results. I am curious now several Scripts that I take are all items I know I would burn hot on, and I have even told them so with they would know my Doctors – BUPROPION HCL XL 300 MG– CYMBALTA 60 MG CAPSULE—,FEXOFENADINE HCL 180 MG —-ATENOLOL-CHLORTHALIDONE 100-25 1-per dsyday.—ALPRAZOLAM 0.5 MG TABLET– METFORMIN HCL 500 MG TABLET– LISINOPRIL 20 MG TABLET–HYDROCODONE-APAP 10-500 TABLET–MORPHINE SULF 30 MG TAB ER –TESTOSTERONE CYP 200 MG/ML –
A: The Alprazolam (Xanax) Hydrocodone/Apap(Vicodin)and Morphine tabs will show up.
The employer may want to check with your doc that the scripts are valid and current.
Depending on the nature of your job, they may have the right to terminate *even if you have a legitimate script* if they render you unable to perform your work safely.
