Q: how to buy Bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban) in bangkok without precpirtion?
I can only get prescription at my doctor(in europe)and i am staying here now.
A: It’s available as “Quomem” at many of the larger pharmacies. No prescription necessary. Sixty 150 mg tablets should cost around 2,200 baht.
Q: should i buy the brand name drugs or generic i have insurance my meds are bupropion sr, risperidone, lexapro?
just wanted which would be better for me i dont care about the cost.
A: By all means, get the Brand Names. Some are hundreds more a bottle, some are two hundred more a bottle. Let the insurance company and other consumers worry about it. You “just wanted which would be better for you” “you don’t care about the cost.”

Q: what is Bupropion do for you? does it really stop you from smoking?
hey i went to my doctor and he gave me a meds call Bupropion for the smoking. i just had a new born baby and i want to quit, he also said it was for the baby blues i had. i had it over 2 months now, plus my husband left to go to the army basic, so that even harder to quit. so i want to know if this stuff really works, should i go buy the patch?
A: Yes bupropion is the same medicine as Zyban which is marketed for non smoking. It doesn’t automatically make you a non smoker. It is suggested that you have a support group of family and friends who will also help when you have cravings. Cravings for smoking do come , however the bupropion makes it easier to deal with the cravings, the anti depressant helps in that way as it calms some of the anxieties that come with smoking cessation. YOU still have to do the work of not picking up the cigarette but it is a big help. My sister had to quit immediately after a heart attack so the Dr put her on the patch also , but that is still nicotine going into your body so the dr may not want you to pass the nicotine on to your baby if nursing. It is hard to quit but if you slip up just start your program again right away. Sometimes it takes many times, but it can be done. My sis has been smoke free for 8 yrs. Best of Luck to you and don’t give up !
Q: Are there any pharmacies in the Twin Cities area that carry bupropion?
I am looking for generic WellbutrinXL I want to buy buPROPion, but most pharmacies substitute buDEPRion. They are NOT the same.
thanks
Bupropion XL is available generically made by Watson, Anchen, Eon/Sandoz, and Actavis
Budeprion XL is available generically made by Teva.
They are both considered generic equivalents to Wellbutrin XL but Budeprion appears to be associated with more side effects and lower efficacy in some people (I am one of them). Pharmacies will substitute Budeprion because it is cheaper.

Wellbutrin Generic to Get New Review:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122212577316365135.html
A: Bupropion was invented by Nariman Mehta of Burroughs Wellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline) in 1969, and the US patent for it was granted in 1974.
It was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an antidepressant on December 30, 1985 and marketed under the name Wellbutrin.
In 1996, the FDA approved a sustained-release formulation of bupropion called Wellbutrin SR, intended to be taken twice a day (as compared to three times a day for immediate-release Wellbutrin).
In 2003 the FDA approved another sustained-release formulation called Wellbutrin XL, intended for once-daily dosing.
Wellbutrin SR and XL are available in generic form in the United States, while in Canada, only the SR formulation is available in generic form.

Q: Transition from generic to name-brand antidepressant?
I’ve tried a few different antidepressants, finally settling on Wellbutrin. I have been taking this the last 2 years in the generic form, bupropion.
This was costing me $50/month, when it was brought to my attention that I might qualify for patient assistance through the drug company, GlaxoSmithKline. Turns out I do qualify, so I recently received some of the real name-brand Wellbutrin in the mail.
I pretty much just stopped taking the bupropion and started taking the Wellbutrin at the same dose. I know it’s usually best to gradually work in a new antidepressant while phasing out the other one, but I ran out of bupropion the same time the real stuff arrived and couldn’t afford to buy more.
It’s been about 5 days since I started the Wellbutrin, and I’m feeling a little “dip” in mood, energy etc. Nothing too serious but definitely a slight return of depressive symptoms. This is surprising because I thought the generic bupropion was chemically identical to the Wellbutrin, but I’m experiencing the same mild return of symptoms that I experienced when transitioning between two different drugs, like Zoloft to Wellbutrin.
Are the generic and name-brand forms of Wellbutrin different in some way, so that it might take some time for the Wellbutrin to reach full effect? Or would be symptoms be coming from somewhere else?
A: Basically the drug is the same. The name is by manufacture. The brand name is the one that comes out first and when the patent on the name runs out, the companies put out the generic version. Most insurance companies pay for generic but if you can get brand that is better. Make sure you take it at the same time everyday. I take my antidepressant at night because of drowsiness. I work in a hospital pharmacy. We go between brand and generic all the time, depends on what the cost is.
