I’m currently taking 30 mg of Cymbalta for chronic nerve pain as a result of my MP (Meralgia Paresthetica), as well as a total of 900 – 1200mg of Gabapentin per day.

A: sorry but they will last until you get your meds in the mail. if you can you need to check with your doctor and tell him what went on and see if he can get you some samples he/she may have some already in the office if not tell the doctor it is going to be another week before you can get it and that you have already been without it for 3 days and see if he will write you enough until then. sorry hope this helps I went through the same thing

A: umm judging by your name, and your depression, im going to assume your asking this in order to get high… well your out of luck. any type of medication that contains codeine or percocet that is over the counter does not contain enough to get high off of. and if they carry any that even contain one of the two, they monitor sales very close.

Q: How to alleviate Cymbalta withdrawals? 10 points!?
I’ve been on Cymbalta for a few months (5-6 months) and I’ve decided to stop taking it for two reasons:

1) I didnt think it’s helping much – while I’m quite stable most of the time, I’m also in some very blah and dont-care moods. I still feel unmotivated most of the time.

2) I dont have the financial means to keep buying them. The reason I was put on Cymbalta was really because the subsidization on Effexor was removed and Effexor was way more expensive. But even so, I can’t afford Cymbalta too. I’m just a student.

So 5 days ago, I stopped cold turkey. I’m experiencing withdrawal symptoms like nausea, brain disorientation, crazy vivid dreams, tremors, excessive sleeping, heart palpitation and so on. It’s driving me crazy.

I have a small supply of xanax left, but I’m not sure if that helps. Does it?

Can anyone tell me anyway to ease the symptoms? Any OTC drugs? Does painkillers work? How about antihistamines (I read about it online, not so sure about it.)

A: I have stopped a couple of antidepressants cold turkey so I understand what you are experiencing………….typical symptoms of stopping.

One thing you need to consider is even though it’s been 5 days going back on it at 60mg for about a week and then cut the pills in half for a week and then in half again for a week and so on until it’s gone….You are going to have wayyyyyy less side effects and the only way to tell how long they are going to last is to keep on like you are – honestly.

I did stop Paxil ( a very hard one to stop cold turkey) and I was told by a pharmacist ( off the record) to use Excedrin Migraine for the headache and use nausea pills for the wobbly feeling…I was told to take it as the bottle’s instructions. I did that along with basically laying on the couch for a week and that is all it took. I ate very lightly – soup – and drank liquids to stay hydrated…..but I did it and I stopped and it was over.

I can tell you that Effexor Xr does have a generic form now (( Generic Name: venlafaxine )) and if you had luck on that before you might want to look into that. Cymbalta is brand new to the market and it will not go generic for a few years. .

I don’t know what type of doctor you are seeing but you might also think about a mood stabilizer to help with the feelings you expressed. That too would lift your mood to where it should be. Antidepressants alone or even mood stabilizers alone can work well for many things dealing with depression issues or things surround depression.

have been on Cymbalta for over two weeks (30mg 1 week, 60mg 1 week) and have had insomnia since the first night. was given two handfuls of sample Lunestra packets of which I can only get 3 hours of sleep (per pill). tried OTC sleep aids = no good. have one Lunestra left. have been in contact with the middleman Nurse many times with little results. have ordered a promising sleeping aid (herbal pills) off of Ebay but you never know with herbal ratherless buying it off the internet but the seller had good feedback. anyway = anyone have any advice? A: I take Cymbalta and I feel it is a God send. Yes, there are times I have insomnia, but the Cymbala keeps me from wanting to go to sleep forever. I found that after I got used to the medicine (within 1 mo) In was able to sleep again. On the nights that I can’t, I take Excedrin PM and a cup of tea and it helps. Herbal I think is not recommended for use with depression medicine. Try a cup of” sleepy time” tea after the Excedrin. It might help you.

Q: Cymbalta and Xanax? My doctor put me on Cym and Xan for Anxiety I’m not depressed or any of the things prescr.

A: A friend was cautiously taking some Xanax, it’s very addictive. So I found something online for her from NativeRemedies.com, but I haven’t taken it myself. She says it works fine and she looks calm, not sleepy. It’s called Purecalm and it has Melissa, Lavandula and Passiflora. It doesn’t have St. John’s wort in it, so you can take it while you are tapering off the other medication. You can’t go off medication cold turkey, so ask your doctor how many weeks it takes.

Q: Questions about Cymbalta?..?
Recently saw my PCP and he suggested I try Cymbalta for depression and anxiety.. I decided to give it a try. Took it tonight a while after I had supper.. probably should have known better and just taken it right after supper but wasn’t really thinking too much of it.. anyway I felt okay for a little while and went to lay down because I had gotten tired. I woke up about an hour ago feeling almost drunk.. I had my eyes shut but it was almost as if everything were spinning or twisting and turning, so I had to get up and open my eyes.. thats when I noticed all the nausea. Still feeling nauseous and a little woozy a little over an hour later.. is this side effect usually long lasting or just temporary until one gets used to the medication? I was on Celexa ( I think it was ) when I was a teenager for depression, can’t remember why I quit taking it.. might not have needed it any longer but I don’t remember feeling that way on that medicine, but unfortunately my memory is shot and I don’t remember much of anything anyway.. so sad.. I’m only 23 and having memory issues. Anyway.. would it be advisable to eat something now, or should I just sip on water? I have no sprite or tums or anything like that and I’m flat out broke.. I’ve been buying milk with change is how broke I am, so if I had a few bucks I’d just run and get a bottle of tums but unfortunately that won’t be happening until my boyfriend gets paid. Would milk turn my stomach worse? Should I try eating a bite or what? A: well, i took propanrdol. and i felt woozie and very spaced out. im guessing its just your bodys react to the tablet. i say dont drink milk, because some of these kind of medcines make you lactose intolerant, so id stick to water, and try nibbling on some bread, or any other plain food. you could try and call your doctor, but i dont no, i dont want to tell you its nothing and it ends up being somthing

I was told to take Fefol so I bought it last night. I know I am to take it after food, but this is around the time that I take my Anti-Depressant and I would rather take the Fefol in the morning than at night. So can I take the Fefol at thesame time I take my Cymbalta?

Q: Why has my wife stopped taking her Cymbalta, and on constant attack mode. What can I do?
My wife is on a median dose of Cymbalta. This has seemed to help her “feeling down” and panic attacks. She has been on these since November. Other than sexual side effects, she has been OK, I think.

Recently, she is upset with herself for gaining 7 pounds of holiday weight. As a result she is taking “stacker” diet pills daily.

The result is a litteral Jekyl and Hyde with her personality. She is “overly” pleasant and active when she is takes these things, but become a bear when she comes down off of them. It seems she is actually buzzed or on a high when taking these stackers.

This past week see seems to be picking me apart about everything: how I do dishes, folding clothes, my weight, etc. She is bringing stuff up from 15 years ago and yelling at me for them.

I basically cannot do anything right according to her. Needless to say this is getting old very fast.

I am losing my job at the end of the month, (a job I liked alot) and now shes complaining she might have to get a factory job and work. I have assured her I have another oppertunity lined up. But she is attacking me for this. I made 100K for the past 4 years, so she doesnt need to work. If she wants to find, but doesnt have to. We are in the process of an old home restoration, an extra house we bought besides our home. So yes we have alot of expense at this time, but taking care of it as we go.

This morning, she let me know she hasnt taken her cymbalta for a week, thinking this will help her weight.

I dont know what to do. I want to call her DR and tell her she is taking these things, even though she was told not to take diet pills.

I am really frustrated and looking for somekind of advice. I really dont like being around someone who attacks me.

A: Brother, you answered your own question in your last sentence.

Pick a calm time, tell your wife that you don’t like being around her when she is not on her meds and coming off of diet pills. Then do just that. Make it so that you are not around her whenever she is in “Mr. Hyde” mode. Go to a different room, leave the house, whatever it takes. Sometimes, just ignoring her will be enough. Whatever it takes.

Eventually she will miss you enough to get herself straightened out. But that motivation has to come from herself.
