Q: Can you now purchase Cymbalta in its generic (cheaper) now?
Was just curious if it was out there since my insurance will not pay for it unless its generic.
A: There is no generic for Cymbalta- some claim that they have one but they are lying. Duloxetine is still in its primary licensed trademark period. If it is pharmaceutically necessary- meaning there is no other medicine that is similar or would be effective then you can file a claim for pre-approval, especially since there is no generic. Most major insurances will buy Cymbalta- especially if it is one in a line of treatments that you have tried.
Q: does anyone know what i could search under 4 cheap meds?
im looking for cymbalta and i dont have med ins. can anyone help me in finding a web site i can order off of that is not expensive.
A: Walmart sells just about the cheapest meds.
Q: Is their a generic form for cymbalta?
My girlfriend lost her insurance and recently ran out of her prescription of Cymbalta. If it gets to the point where we have to pay the $380 to get the prescription filled, we will do so but trying to look at other options. Is thier a generic?? Or any ideas of some kind of temp insurance or way to get this drug cheaper? Thanks
A: Unfortunately if your girlfriend is being treated for depression it is likely that she’ll be turned down for a private pay insurance plan; they will call her depression a “preexisting condition”. If she lost her insurance because of a job loss she’d be better off getting her insurance continued through COBRA (from her previous job) as she’d get insurance for less than she’d pay on the private market, and then her “preexisting condition” wouldn’t count against her.
She might be able to get discounted medication through the Partnership for Prescription Assistance; you can apply on line. https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php
Finally, be sure to check in with your county’s public mental health outpatient clinic as you might be able to see a doctor there and get cymbalta less expensively. Or, might be able to switch to another anti-depressant that is generic.
There is no generic for cymbalta and won’t be for a number of years.
Q: What is the cheapest anti anxiety medication (read on)?
I have to pay a percentage of the cost of the drug, not a copay. What are some of the cheaper drugs available? I was taking cymbalta but its expensive. Some of the meds have generics but they are expensive too. Any ideas?
I also tried celexa but had bad acid reflux so thats out.
A: Venlafaxine (generic Effexor) and venlafaxine ER (generic Effexor XR) are probably your best option if you are looking for SSRI or SNRI medications. Generic versions of Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, and Librium are all very very cheap, but these are benzos and usually are not recommended for long term use. If you need medicine daily, then venlafaxine ER is probably best. If you only need medicine when you have panic attacks, then I think alprazolam (generic Xanax) is best. Speak with your doctor as they will understand your concern and should be aware of pricing. You can also call the pharmacy to check on prices. I’m not sure how much venlafaxine or venlafaxine ER are, but without insurance alprazolam is about $20 for a one month prescription. Generally if a medication is not generic, it is not very affordable. But also, not all generics are dirt cheap but they will always be cheaper than their brand name version. Also, extended release medications (those ending in XR, ER, CR, SR, or XL) are usually more expensive but are usually worth the additional money. Very few medications such as Paxil and Lexapro have long enough half lives such that extended release versions wouldn’t be much better. Regular Effexor, for example, must be taken at least twice a day and the immediate release dosing prevents your from maintaining stable blood concentrations which can cause mood swings. Effexor XR prevents this.
Q: Have any of you tried wellbutrin? effexor? please help, 10 pts?
Im deciding weather to ask my doctor about wellbutrin or effexor since they are generic and cheaper than cymbalta. kinda scared about effexor for the withdrawals. Is wellbutrin effective in weight loss? i gained 20 on cymbalta and want it gone.
oh thats the other med the pharmacist told me about thanks
A: Effexor made me so mean.
Q: lexapro is suspose to be an updated version of prozac so if I’m taking lexapro for anxiety/panic and it?
stops working does that mean prozac won’t work? plus I gained a lot of weight on lexapro and I have also tryed cymbalta i know prozac is cheap but not sure if it will help if i’m already taking the updated version
A: When my Lexapro stops working, I stop taking it for three days. It works fine after that.
Q: HELP! anxiety medication suggestions? (no benzos!) 10 points!!!?
Ok guys, I see my doctor tomorrow.
I have always had trouble with anxiety and its just getting worse. Right now my doctor prescribes me Suboxone for a past drug addiction. I know he will not write me xanax or any other benzo because of that NOR DO I WANT HIM TO. I have been on benzos before and they only make dealing with anxiety even more difficult in the long run.
The only other option I know of for anxiety is the SSRI’s and Buspar. I have tried ALL of these except for cymbalta and effexor. SSRI’s ALWAYS make my anxiety worse. The medication i have taken that is similar to cymbalta/effexor is wellbutrin, I do not react well to antidepressants that work on norepinephrine, they give me earth shattering panic attacks!
I have also tried beta blockers like Inderal for the physical aspects and it does not help either plus I don’t like the side effects.
I really do not know what options are left, I have tried literally everything. and before you say therapy, I have been in therapy for 8 years, I am still going and it’s not helping at all. I may lose my job if I don’t figure out something quick!
My doctor will probably write me anything that has no addiction potential, so please shoot any suggestions my way. as of right now I am considering Effexor (because it has a generic and thus cheaper than cymbalta) and Remeron as I have read it is ok for anxiety even though it has the nasty side effects of the tricyclics.
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE
please real answers, not colon cleansing spam ^____^
A: The problem centers in your mind, your way of thinking, the things you think about, the way you process information. For example a person who worries a lot about things is going to have anxiety. A person who thinks negatively will end up feeling depressed. You have to change your way of thinking. Medication and therapy isnt going to work if it doesnt help you change your thinking habits. We get stuck in thinking and behavior. If you think and behave the same way, you’ll end up with anxiety problems and panic attacks. The answer is to renew your mind and change the way you process information. Spirituality is a great way to begin. You mentioned drug addiction. Have you ever been to AA/NA? They have a great 12 step program that can help a person rehabilitate themselves and change. You can change from the inside out. The nice thing about the program is you go to daily meetings, talk to a sponsor, interact with other people read motivational books, work on yourself through the 12 steps. As you change, the anxiety attacks will become less. Your way of thinking, your lifestyle, your hobbies, interests, everything will improve. I was also an addict as a young person and had SEVERE anxiety disorder. I was on valuim for 5 years and it did make it worse. At one point I didn’t leave the house for months because I had become terrified of people and crowds as well. I know now the problem centered in my mind, my way of thinking, reacting, responding, behavior, habits, and a lot of screwed up things about myself (fear, resentment, guilt, etc). Working on myself through the program, church, God, a counselor, my sponsor, I overcame the addiction and anxiety disorder. For the past 25 years. I’ve lived a normal life after a terrible teenage life and into my 20’s!
Q: help, will my doctor get mad at me for requesting new medication?
i dont want to get him mad by asking for a differnet medication. i want to ask to take effexor, the generic brand, since its alot cheaper than cymbalta and because being on cymbalta has caused me a 20 pound weight gain, twitching, and still being depressed.
i dont know. i just dont wnat him to get mad or to think im trying to tell him whats better ya know? since hes the doc. but i do want to tell him i want to try the generic effexor instead. do you think he’ll understand?
A: if your doctor is not willing to work with you, then find a new one.
I have the same problem just different meds.
I explained to my doc how things were and she works with me. but you’ve got to talk to your doc. if a med is not working for you or causing a problem then Don’t take it.
Q: Is it possible for a person who has been in and out of mental health programs to obtain a rifle?
I suffer from clinical depression and post traumatic stress disorder. When I was in my early teens, I was severely abused by a relative. My body still bears the scars of the violence. The person who did this to me died more than a decade ago. At times I’m OK, at times I am not. Since going to my current psychiatrist and taking Cymbalta, since last November, I’ve been doing better than I have for many years.
My friends have 22 caliber rifles. One has a Mossberg Plinkster 702. The other has a Savage 64F. I know they are cheap plastic autoloaders, but they are fun. I’m thinking about a Marlin 795, another 22 caliber autoloader in the same $125 price range or maybe a Mossberg 802 bolt action, also $125 with an 18″ barrel. With a 21″ brushed chrome barrel, it is about $140. This is the most I can afford…
I don’t plan on doing anything stupid. I don’t even want to hunt. My friends just shoot targets too.
Is there a way my purchase can be blocked? Would being on meds, seeing psychologists and psychiatrists for years be a problem? I spent six months in an outpatient program that ran from 9-5 Mon-Fri. In that time, I was unable to work and temporarily received social security disability payments in that time. Can someone take my gun away based on this sort of record? I’ve never been in trouble with the law. I am a good citizen. I’m just afraid someone will want to deny me my right to bear arms, even if is only a cheap 22. Any ideas? Thanks.
A: “Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective (which includes having been adjudicated incompetent to manage your own
affairs) or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?”
If the answer to this question is an honest no, then you may purchase a firearm provided you meet all of the other requirements.
Q: cybmbalta withdrawl a hydriant question?
I was prescribed cyblata for chronis pain. he gave me nurantin to go with it. I began to have petimal seizures so I quit the nurantins. then the cymbalta started to make me sick.. So I began to slowly back offf of those!.. I have been sicker than a cheap whiskey hangover for weeks now. vertigo, nausea, coordination problems HOW LONG WILL THIS GO ON?…. YIKES ALL I NEEDED was a some thing for pain the lortab does great…NO side effects or dangers bar addiction… whoopty doo. WTF is wrong with doctors these day?
WHY are pain killers so taboo? heck if you need them you need them.. cymbalta and nurantin cause strokes and heart attacks among othing things!… Thanks I’ll risk opiate addictions DR Suess lived to a ripe old age on opiates!
A: Everything you have described are symptoms of Cymbalta (duloxetine) withdrawal. Unfortunately, the seizures are also a withdrawal symptom. It is not known how long these will continue for you, each person is different and it depends on other factors. These factors include the dosage you were taking, how long you were taking them, how fast you “backed off” of them, etc.
I am going to have to ABSOLUTELY AGREE with you on the pain killers comments. Why do people put such a taboo on them. If you need them in order to function properly (or as close to proper as you can get) then who cares if you are addicted! Addiction is always viewed as a negative but this does not have to be (in my opinion). Abuse is the negative. If you need the medication and are not abusing it by obtaining it illegally or taking more than is prescribed, then what is the big deal? If you need the pain killers for chronic pain and are going to be on them for the rest of your life, be as addicted as you want. All I ask is that you do not abuse them and make it harder for us who do need them to get them (this is not aimed at you polify_Utah).
Q: who knows about Zoloft?
anyone know alot about Zoloft? I was on Cymbalta for a long time and just switched to this today (alot cheaper) and wondered if it makes you gain weight? When I tried to go off Cymbalta b4 I lost 6 pds soon. then when I had to go back on it I gained. Is Zoloft a weight gainer? Thanks!
I’m on 100 mg.
A: it depends how much of the medicine you take for you to gain weight.
i take the lowest dosage you can and im doing great!
some people can take it and do great and some people cant take zoloft.
Q: anyone else on Revia/Vivitrol?
i am on the opiate blocker vivitrol (which is the monthly shot form of revia) and i was wondering…it has been working like magic but i lost my insurance and i am on seroquel, cymbalta, and clonidine too…i was thinking that maybe if i got back on suboxone (prob like 2mg) that that would be the only med i would have to be on..it helped me sleep before and took away my anxiety and mood swings but it also can be addictive…i know it would be cheaper cuz the shot alone is 709$ per month…so is the risk of possibly becomin addicted to suboxone worth it since i will cut out all the other meds? and i WILL be taking it as prescribed because my mom will be giving it to me and since it will probably be such a low dose the addiction/detox will be pretty unlikely (hopefuly) just want to know what ya’ll think!
A: I was in rehab and was on Revia and Suboxone both. It’s very difficult to become addicted to suboxone because it doesn’t give you the high that you’re looking for. You can get more of a buzz by taking Seroquel then you can suboxone.
Revia never worked for me so I can’t so much about it. I was still having cravings while I was taking it but the Suboxone took that away.
Suboxone is roughly $3.60 a pill. Be sure to let it dissolve under your tongue instead of swallowing it. It has a nasty lime/lemon flavoring added to it but it still tastes horrible. If you’re still having really bad cravings with anxiety then take two 2mg tablets for a week then knock it down to one tablet for 2 weeks, then one every other day for 1 week. This should help you with your detox.
Be careful because Seroquel can be a very harmful drug. If you’re having mood swings then ask your doc for a Lamictal dose pack. Less side effects and better results.
Good luck with everything. I know it’s hard but you will get through it.
Q: Fibromyalgia and DHEA and HGH?
I have a pretty bad case of fibromyalgia. I am 21, been diagnosed since I was 11 going on 12 years old (yes that young) back in 2000 after a car accident. I have had pain my entire life however so after that it got VERY bad, and it has been getting worse. I have been on various medications, and tried the new fibromyalgia approved medications to no avail. In fact I started to feel the pain more than before on the savella and cymbalta caused tremors. I refuse to use the lyrica because everyone I know gained weight and gaining weight for me would cause severe depression which makes fibromyalgia worse (and I was a fat kid in the past so I know I wouldnt be able to handle that kind of weight gain) as well as being overweight is not good for fibromyalgia. So I had an EMG a few weeks ago ordered to be sure I have fibro and not some other nerve disorder, and it just confirmed the fibro. However, the neurologist told me how I could get HGH injections and I found online that DHEA supplements are supposed to help as well.
I doubt my pain specialist will do the injections because he is a spinal doctor I found out, and im pretty sure the HGH injections are at the fibro trigger points, not injections to the spine. Also I have HMO. Right now I don’t feel like spending money on copays every appointment because it adds up and the last x amount of appointments they were wastes. I want to see if the supplements do anything because if they help then I would be more confident in searching for a doctor that will do the injections and getting the injections with the high chance of copays.
My question is, if I want to try supplements, what dosage should I start at and what is the best way to take them, as well as what they may interact with (I am on a bipolar/ADHD medication, a narcotic (for the pain), and birth control), and are there different kinds, if so what should I stay away from? Does brand matter and are there different types of each? if so which is the best kind for fibromylagia and chronic fatigue syndrome?
I understand that going through my doctor would answer a lot of the question and usually be the cheapest way if insurance would cover them. The thing is -I don’t want to break any rules by mentioning anything specific- but I have a ‘get paid to’ website that I can order items from Amazon and I have a good amount of credit that I could most likely afford a test amount of DHEA and HGH supplements that I can see if they are worth spending money from my pocket on the copays. So instead of paying for an appointment to ask these questions I was hoping there is some general knowledge on the subject or someone that really knows about it that could help me figure out all of this.
A: Wow! Your question is very long and complicated. To be honest, I couldn’t really concentrate through the whole thing, but I may have a little bit of information for you.
I was officially diagnosed with fibro in 2006, but I have had it since 1970 after recovering from rheumatic fever. One of my doctors just recently (a month ago) ran some labs and noticed that my DHEA levels were on the low end (within range but low), so he put me on some supplements. I get them from a compound pharmacy over the internet (which he recommended) but you do not need a prescription. He started me on a sustained release capsule, 10 mg per day. He cautioned me that this was not a “miracle cure”, but that some people have gotten some pain relief when they got their DHEA levels up. So, after putting up with the pain for 40 years (with the last four years being 24/7 in pain), I am willing to try just about anything…lol!
As for interactions with your meds, I don’t think the DHEA will interact, but there are sites on the internet where you can check “drug interactions”. You list all your drugs and it tells you what possible interactions there are. There are a couple of sites like this. It’s easy and worth the time to check out!
Sorry, but I can’t tell you anything about HGH.
Savella and Cymbalta, also, did not help me.
I am on Lyrica. It did cause me to gain 20 lbs.!!! It takes the edge off of the pain and makes my life bearable.
I wish you good luck!
Q: my moms depressed! why didnt she tell me?
So, i was trying to fall asleep, when i heard my mom talking to my dad, saying that her depression pills cost a lot cheaper at one place than the other. i thought she was talking about my aunt (on my moms side) who has a lot of depression problems along with ms. now today i was looking for some advil and my mom moved some things around to find it. and later i came back to take another, i saw cymbalta, and knew that it was for depression! i had no idea she was depressed! she is over weight and she hates it, but i didnt know she hated it that bad. now she has lost a lot of weight cuz she is on this diet, and its worked really well for her. but, idk! its not right, i mean only a few times she has cried in the closet, but that was after my brother said some really mean things to her. i know that sounds awful, but everybody cries, and she rarely cries. i just dont know what to think! can you guys help me just tell me to calm down or something idk its just that i dont know what to feel and i guess it runs in her family, but still… help me! why didnt she tell me? i would be glad to help her!? im always really nice to her though, because i know that she is a little sensitive, and i was a really good kid growing up, people tell me i never cried, and was really sweet, same with my brother. is it me???
A: It’s not easy telling someone about your depression. In fact, it’s probably more difficult to tell to a family member. Give her lots of love and support but don’t mention her depression. Help her without her knowing it. It’s not you at all.
Q: I think about hurting myself, but never do and I feel like I can’t tell this to my husband?
I think about hurting myself, more along the lines of cutting. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, they gave me Cymbalta (It worked) and I couldn’t affoard to get another perscription filled. The doc gave me a form to send to the drug comapny and a refill on my script, but I can’t affoard it.
So I stopped cold turkey, and now I feel like If I do something like cut myself, then I could control the pain of what I have been through.
How do you tell someone about this who has been there for you? I feel depressed because I’ve put my husband through so much and I don’t want to stress him out anymore.
Maybe I should just call the doctor and ask for a cheaper med and talk to him about how I feel. Now I feel dizzy all the time, like I didn’t sleep after sleeping all night, and I am having these thoughts and seriously considering it.
A: At a time like this you need to know he’s behind you 100 percent. It’s probably best that you tell him. express to him your concerns. Also One thing that might help is to surround yourself with people who love you.
