Q: Cymbalta medication??
Have you (or anyone you know) ever been prescribed the medication Cymbalta? Did you (or them) notice any side effects? If so, what were they?
Also, did it seem to help?
Thanks. LIPPS
A: Cymbalta is tricky when it comes to dosage. 60 mg. may do nothing, 90 mg. might make you perspire nonstop and have insomnia and nightmares. 70 mg. might make you feel wonderful. It’s worth the effort to take a couple of months to fine tune the dosage.
Q: Can you have a few alcoholic drinks while taking Cymbalta, medication for depression?
Mostly wine, maybe a beer every once in awhile.
A: Generally speaking, you shouldn’t drink while taking antidepressants because this can result in excessive drowsiness. I have been on antidepressants half of my life and a drink or two a couple of times a week has never done me any harm. However, Cymbalta is especially hard on your liver and alcohol is too, so if you drink, do it in moderation and not in excess. Also, if you have liver problems, mixing Cymbalta with alcohol isn’t a very wise decision. You should check with your doctor and ask.
Q: What are the side effects of getting off the medication cymbalta?
A: Hi, if you slowly taper off cymbalta, it is unlikely there will be a problem. Talk to your doctor first for suggestions on the best way to stop taking this med. Then things should be fine.
If you stop cymbalta ABRUPTLY, some side effects might occur. These include dizziness, feeling nauseous. headaches, irritability, nightmares. Also, symptoms of depression can recur if you stop too quickly. All this information is available in the link below.
Unfortunately, the first person who answered you gave you some incorrect information. Cymbalta is not an SSRI so it is not that similar to paxil. However, the rest of the info was fine, and I am sure the answerer was trying to help.
I recently went from 60 mg of cymbalta up to 120 mg. This dosage was too high for me, so I called my shrink and we decided to go back to 60 mg. Today I have a lousy headache, but maybe that is just a coincidence.
Again, you should be fine if you taper off slowly with the help of your doctor’s suggestions. Be well.
Q: CYMBALTA MEDICATION, have you ever heard of “blackouts” associated with that medication?
I was prescribed this medication and I am like forgetting things at times, or do stuff and I dont remember. Obviously, I iwll discontinue its use, and speak to doctor BUT ITS HORRIFYING
A: Remember to call your doctor first. You may have to go off slowly depending on your dose. Read here for some side-effects:

Q: What is the prescribed medication, cymbalta used for?
A: diabetic neuropathy aka nerve pain
Q: Has anyone noticed an increase of migraines while taking the medication Cymbalta?
I suffer from migraine headaches and recently started Cymbalta. I don’t know if the increase is from the humidity in NYC or if I’m having a reaction to the medication.
Please help!
A: You need to tell your doctor.
Q: How can I wean myself off of the medication Cymbalta?
A: Talk to your doctor first and tell her that you want to be weaned off this medicine. Don`t try to wean yourself as anti depressants are nothing to fool with…..Please go to your doctor…
Q: If I accidentally skip taking my medication (Cymbalta *duloxetine HCl*) for a day or two, I get weirdly moody?
It makes me lash out, making me feel depressed and just awful about myself. Is this common?
A: It is never a good idea to not take anti-depressants when prescribed.
It will change your mood, thinking, depression and put you in a state of mind you should not have to be in.
Always take your medications as prescribed and it is very dangerous to go on and off of them.
I have been on anti-depressants for many years now. I’ve had to have meds changed and doses but I know I can not function without them and do not miss taking them.
If I forget at night before bed, I take one the next morning (half my regular dose) to just feel more normal and take that edge off like you are describing.
Thankfully you are on medication and getting help.
Q: What should I expect when changing medication for depression? Wellbutrin to Cymbalta?
I’ve been on 300mg of Wellbutrin for the past 2 weeks and it hasn’t helped worth crap, so my meds are being changed. I’m going back down to 150mg Wellbutrin and adding 60mg Cymbalta, i’m taking it in the morning. What side effects or withdrawal symptoms might come up? Any info will help
A: I don’t think you were on the Wellbutrin long enough for it to have much effect, but when I went off it after a year and a half I hit a deep depression that lasted a couple months. I know nothing about Cymbalta, though.
Beer works better than any of those expensive drugs.
Q: my six month old dog ate my cymbalta medication. How serious is it?
A: Get your dog to an emergency vet NOW! He will die if you don’t
Q: Do you feel like you need anti-depressant medication after watching a Cymbalta commercial?
Talk about a buzzkill.
A: actually I feel i’m letting down my pets!!
Q: What’s a good alternative medication to cymbalta?
A: The most similar medication to Cymbalta (duloxetine) in terms of its chemical function is Effexor (venlafaxine). Both are fairly specific in affecting serotonin and norepinephrine without affecting acetylcholine or histamine. However, at inadequate doses, Effexor only has an effect on serotonin, so it needs to be used at an adequate dose to be similar to Cymbalta. This dose is not excessive and probably occurs above 150 mg daily (225 is the average daily dose).
It is important to remember, however, that although many antidepressants work differently, after 30+ years of research, there has been NO convincing evidence that any antidepressant has a better or different effect than any other. Neuropsychologists theorize, for example, that serotonin is more involved with anxiety, and norepinephrine with pleasure, but all studies trying to predict what antidepressants will work better based on the presence of anxiety or lack of enjoyment have been dismally unsuccessful.
In short, we know far less about how mood works than many assert, and it is still impossible to predict or even guess as to which antidepressant will work and which will not in any specific person. We can make decisions that make intuitive sense, but this does not translate to success or lack of success.
As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.
Q: Has anyone ou t there taken the depression medication called cymbalta?
Since I started taking it I have experienced hair regrowth on my head!
Has anyone else experienced this using cymbalta?
A: I’ve been on Cymbalta for a while but that hasn’t happened to me! That would be a good question for the pharmacist.
Q: Cymbalta medication info?
My nerolist gave me a perspiration for Cymbalta but not to be treated for depression but for my nerve pain or something. Is that medicine any good?
A: you bet it is, it is indicated for depression and diabetic neuropathic pain but a lot of doctors are succesfully treating chronic pain with this too, I would certainly give it a try, good luck
Q: Anybody have success with Cymbalta when no other medication has helped?
Have tried Paxil and Zoloft in the past for depression but neither of them have worked.
A: HELLO
