Q: Is there any connection between the drug Effexor and benzodiazepine?
A drug screen for a client showed an elevated level of benzodiazepines. He is taking the drug Effexor. Does the latter explain the former?

A: These are two completely different drugs and neither will increase the levels of each other on a blood test.

Q: Is the drug effexor effective for social anxiety disorders?
What are the side effects and can it be taken long term? Does it cause weight loss also?

A: It works but not as good as paxil or 5htp. It makes you gain lots of weight though.

Q: Does anyone know if the drug Effexor is good for treating people with ADD/ ADHD?
Is Effexor effective for patients with ADD/ ADHD? Is their any side effects or withdrawal effects?

A: Effexor is a medication used to treat depression. Sometimes, a Person whom displays symptoms of ADD will also have depression. Effexor can be taken in conjunction with Adderol- which is a mediation used to treat ADD. If you do not have health insurance, these meds get expensive, especially because there is so much abuse of the ADD medication for recreational purposes. You should go to a local clinic to get diagnosed. If you walk in and ask for Adderol of ritalin, of course, you will not be taken seriously. If you do have ADD, it is Worth pursing this- you owe it to yourself to see how much more effective you may be if properly treated. Also, watch your diet- if you are eating fast food and not getting all of your vitamins, you will have more trouble. ADD meds also take a lot out of you- talk to your doctor about this. Good Luck!!!

Q: What are the effects of mixing the drug Effexor with Adderral?

A: From personal experience don’t mix Efexor with anything. Anything which acts on the CNS (central nervous system) is dangerous when you mix it. Adderall is designed to work on the nervous system, and already has its own side effects such as dizziness and nausea. Efexor also has dizziness, confusion, nausea and lethargy.
I looked on the Web, and I couldn’t find anything which specifically said what would happen if you mixed them, and unless your doses are high, nausea would probably be the worst of it. Although it can also act on the cardiovascular system, which is why in overdose Efexor is so dangerous.

If you want to overdose, there are better ways but I’m not including them here as it’s inappropriate.

Other than that, I would not take the two together without talking to your doctor or pharmacist.

Q: Will Klonopin or Effexor show up on a drug test?
I am currently taking .5 mg of Klonopin twice daily, and 150 mg of Effexor XR once daily. Today, I have to do a urine test for my job. Will those show up as drugs in my system?

Thank you guys!

A: It’s possible that the Klonopin would show up under a benzodiazepine screen, but it would not prohibit you from getting the job as you have a valid prescription. Also, your job may not test for that specific of a substance–they may go after more illicits such as meth/cocaine/marijuana…etc. I have had pre-employment screens taking my precriptions and it never came up as an issue. Good luck to you!

Q: Has anyone used the drug Effexor? And what are the positive side affects?
What are the positive side affects?

A: the positive side effects of effexor are:
it takes away your depression
it makes you lose your appetite (i lost a lot of weight when i was on effexor.
it takes away OCD

Q: Effexor: Does anyone have good things to say about this drug?
I was prescribed Effexor for anxiety, but after reading a lot about it on the internet, I wonder if the negatives outweigh the positives with this drug.

All the stories I’ve heard sound like Effexor makes peoples’ lives living hell.

Does anyone have anything good to say about Effexor? Did it help you? How did it make you feel? Tell your story here!

A: I was on effexor for 3 years and I had the same reaction as all the medications. No positive only some side effects.

Q: can taking effexor for several years reduce the effectivness of the drug?
i have taken effexor for 10 years and I take 150 mg once a day. It seems to work good, but I wanted to know if there is a time when one would stop taking it or use another type of drug

A: Yes, that can happen with any anidepressant and you can also develop dependency and you should be weaned off of it if you want to stop or try something else. You doctor can help you with this.

I took effexor for years

Q: I’m trying to get off my “mood enhancing drug” Effexor. I’m sure I will need something to replace it but what?
I’ve been taking Effexor for four years now if that plays any part in it.

A: I got switched from Effexor to Cymbalta right away and I did not go through any withdrawls doing it this way, maybe I just got lucky or maybe it is just a smooth transition between the 2…….good luck with what you end up doing

Q: who likes taking the drug Effexor?
If you do what do you think of it?do you think you will need it forever?
Yes I have been taking it for about three months.

A: vee, I need to answer your ? because you answered mine about brain shivers. That sounds so weird, can’t believe it’s a real thing. The side effect of effexor made me really scared. Do I need to fight through it. I would def not say it’s worse than what I’m taking it for, it just scared me. Besides the nauseousness, I threw up on my second day. Felt better after that though.

Q: I’m on Strattera, Effexor, and Trazodone. What will I pop for on a drug test?
So I’m on Strattera (40mg) , Effexor (75mg), and Trazodone (3×50mg). I’ve got some applications in for a new job and I would like to keep my prescriptions to myself. Most of these jobs require drug tests and I was just wondering which of these drugs will make the test read a false positive and what will it pop for? Thanks..

A: I think you will test positive for amphetamine. You will have to provide a prescription and possibly sign your permission for them to call your doctor and confirm your diagnoses. Don’t worry it is not against the law to have ADHD.

Q: Does Effexor show up on a drug test?
My husband takes one effexor tablet a day. Will it show up on a pre-employment urine analysis. It is prescribed, but just wondering. The test is Medtox.

A: There have been false positive phencyclidine (PCP) results caused by Venlafaxine (effexor) with certain on-site routine urine-based drug tests.

However, before your husband takes the drug test he should inform them of all medications he is on so that they will be aware of the possibility of positive results. For example, I take concerta which will show up positive for amphetimines on some drug tests, but my employer is aware that I am on it so they I don’t get in trouble for the positive result.

Q: Does anyone take the drug effexor? What kind of side effects do you have with this drug?

Q: What side effects does the drug effexor ex have?
any sexual side effects???
any weight gain???
anything I wasnt told about???

A: The exact opposite of weight gain. I couldn’t eat for the first couple of weeks and then for the first couple of weeks each time the dose was increased or decreased. I lost about 10 lbs overall.

Q: i have been prescribed Effexor, has anyone out there had any bad side effects with this drug ?
I have heard alot of bad comments about this drug. all answers will be appreciated.

A: Effexor is a very bad drug. I was on it for four years and could not stop taking it for even a day without brain shocks and feeling panicky. It causes weight gain and it’s withdrawal symptoms were so severe that in order to wean off, I had to literally scrape a small amount from each pill and take it for about a week, before removing a little more. It took me about 6 months to wean off. Also, my psychologist would not listen to me about the withdrawal symptoms and told me I didn’t know what I was walking about–that it states that there is no problem stopping the drug. One day, about two months later, she apologized to me because she had just come back from a convention/seminar and was told that Effexor has severe withdrawal symptoms. The only thing I can tell you is to be very careful if you have to take it and go into it with your eyes wide open!
