Olanzapine Tablets

For more information check out: Olanzapine Tablets today!

Q: I am scared to begin ‘Olanzapine’ tablets. I am Anorexic and want to fight my recovery sober.?
Any views or experiences PLEASE . . THANKYOU.
Also, is the weight gain side effect due to increased appetite or metabolic changes?

A: It is both, actually. Ask your doctor if you can take the diabetes medication Metformin, as it minimizes the weight gain from atypical antipsychotics. Or you could ask for Topomax. I am not a big fan on Olanzapine. It made me feel hungover in the morning, I had few emotions, and had interest in anything. I am schizophrenic, though, and most of that (except the hungover feeling) cannot be attributed to the meds. It did a really good job with getting rid of all my OCD, depression, and psychosis…for a while. I would recommend the med for you, though, because you will probably be on a much lower dose. My friend that takes 5mg experienced no weight gain, and I only gained 5 pounds on a pretty high dose.
My favorite antipsychotic is Seroquel. It’s my sister’s favorite as well. Abilify does nothing for psychosis, but it’s okay for other things.
Trust your doctor.
You won’t be not ’sober’ if you take meds. You are sick and you need medicines that will help you get better.
Good luck

Q: what are the side effects of OLANZAPINE tablets ?

A: One of my mates jumped out of a window on it !
They are anti psychotics. Work that out.

Q: Can 104 20 mg fluoxetine(prozac) tablets and 67 7.5mg Olanzapine tablets kill you?

A: call suicide prevention and/or poison control depending on whether you’ve taken them or not. people care about you, tomorrow will be better, please seek help. I have dealt with depression for 35 years. You can beat it.

Q: Why OLANZAPINE & ARIPIPRAZALE tablets are use?

A: Both of these medications are for psychological disorders. Olanzapine ( Zyprexa) can be prescribed for Mania or Bipolar psychosis, Schizophrenia, mood disorders. Some of disorders are closely related. Aripiprazole ( Abilify) is an antipsychotic frequently prescribed for Schizophrenia. Depending on how long a person has been taking these medications, there will be side effects inititally but, subside within 4 weeks. These medications can take up to 4-6 weeks before a person will notice relief of their symptoms. If symptoms persist or worsen, the Doc who prescribed the medications needs to be notified so that he/she can make adjustments in the dosage and/or prescribe different medications. I hope that this helps.

Q: Can you cut an olanzapine tablet in half? Or will this make it be ingested too fast? As they are coated?
tablets.

A: Yes you CAN cut them, they are even crushed in hospitals to be put into patients food.

Q: if i took 5 tablet of 5mg of olanzapine will it kill me?
just wondering
how many should i take to kill myself then?

A: maximum daily dose for patients with sever bipolar disorder/ schizophrenia is 30 mg PO (by mouth) over a 24 hour period according to the 2008 drug reference guide. however consuming that amount at one time and without a medical condition of that magnitude would not be advisable most likely not lethal however could cause a sever drop in blood pressure along with psychological issues.
i would not recommend this dosage unless prescribed by a doctor. it could be potentially dangerous

Q: How soon would I die of an overdose?
I have 24 30mg tablets of Tylenol with Codeine #3, 12 7.5mg tablets of Novo-Olanzapine, and 27 1gm tablets of tryptophan. Will this be enough to die if taken all at once? How long would it take?

A: You need help. Please call someone immediately. 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-273-TALK are good numbers to call or just call a family member or 911. Please talk to someone because you obviously have plans to take your life and suicide is so permanent. To answer your question I’m not sure how long it will take, but I do know anytime a person overdose on anything with acetaminophen in it is painful.

Best of Luck in getting some help…..

Q: Questions about Zyprexa(Olanzapine)?
Hi. I am 22 and live in Glasgow. I was in hospital for a few days in February this year for low mood. When i seen the psychiatrist the other week i told him i had been experiencing things such as racing thoughts, ontop of the world feeling, sleep problems ect. I told him i think my Mum might have Manic Depression too.He prescribed me with an anti-psychotic called Olanzapine(Zyprexa). He gave me 10mg tablets and 5mg tablets. Both to be taken at night. Anyway i asked him do i have Bipolar and he said “it sounds like it”.
I have a few questions i hope you don’t mind answering.
1)A few days ago when i asked the pdoc in Glasgow if i had Bipolar he said “it sounds like it” is that a diagnosis of Bipolar then?
2)Is Olanzapine(Zyprexa) sufficient enough to treat Bipolar Disorder alone?
3)If i find that the anti-psychotic makes me feel better will i be kept on them for the long term?
Thank you very much

A: You’re definitely Bipolar and don’t need to be seeing a doctor who says “It sounds like it” and prescribes an antipsychotic medication before trying mood stabilizers such as Lamictal or Lithium. You should be on an antideppresant that doesn’t cause mania such as Wellbutrin. Your doctor is, at this point, trying to kill an ant with a sledgehammer.

Q: Question regarding 20MG Citalopram & 10MG Olanzapine (Zyprexa)?
What I needed to understand is basically why did the mental health doctor prescribe those two tablets?
I desire to recognize the effects of the tablets along with the side effects?
I’ve taken the medication for almost two weeks but furthermore can’t sight any alteration in my thinking pattern.
I take one Citalopram in the morning & before nightfall I swallow one Olanzapine.

A: Citalopram is an antidepressant drug used to treat symptoms of depression, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. This drug has been proven to be safe as long as it is used in it prescribed dose (20mg to 60mg/ day). Usual side effects include fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, trembling, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances, insomnia, cardiac arrhythmia, blood pressure changes, nausea and/or vomiting and diarrhea.

Olanzapine is used in depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. Side effects include tardive dyskinesia (series of involuntary repetitive movements), dry mouth, dizziness, weight gain (seen in 90% of users), insomnia, among others.

Hope this helps.

Q: I’ve been prescribed Olanzapine, but i dont want it and i dont need it and want to go back to work…?
…what can i do?
I’ve had trouble sleeping for a long time and bouts of depression and have been on sodium valporate for a while they said i have bi polar disorder but i dont. Now i have been prescribed olanzapine which i think is an anti psychotic, they said i tried to kill myself but i wasn’t, that never even happened and i think my cpn made it up as i went to school with her daughter and i didnt get on with her. ANyways i went into hospital nd came out last week but they put me on these tablets. I havent been taking them and am fine, no little green men or elves running round and i dont want them. I just want to go back to work but my doctor says i shouldnt. I had a training contract with a solicitor and have been on the sick for about 6 weeks, i just want to go back or i will lose everything. what shall i do?

A: Maybe you should go to a therapist and convince them you are ok? Or just ignore your doctors and go to work anyway? I included a link about Olanzapine

Q: Alternatives to Olanzapine please..one which doesn’t put weight on!?
and how could you change these tablets… is it difficult to make the change and what would be the alternative side effects to the other tablets please?

A: All medications in this drug class have a tendency for weight gain but the 2 considered most ‘weight neutral’ are Abilify and Geodon. But they may (or may not) work for you so you have to consider that before switching medications. Diet and exercise is always considered the best way to fight off the weight gain. I know it’s hard because I take olanzapine (Zyprexa) too, but I’ve been able to lose 7 pounds on it so it can be done if done right. You have to follow a proper diet and exercise. And it doesn’t have to be vigorous exercise. It could just be walking around town and stuff like that. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck with your treatment decisions.

Q: Zyprexa (olanzapine) Question?
Im just wondering if it is okay to crush a zyprexa tablet and put the powder in water and drink it as I have trouble swallowing tablets whole!
Thanks!!
ive only just been prescribed it today, and brought the script to realise they have disolvable wafers, which i will ask for with my next script!

A: If you are taking 5, 10, 15, or 20mg of Zyprexa, ask your doctor about taking the Zydis form instead. Zydis is a melt in the mouth version of Zyprexa. I’ll give you the link about it in the sources. It’s the health care professional link though so you may not understand all the medical language which I apologize for, but Zyprexa Zydis is one option. Only thing is you can’t take Zyprexa Zydis if you have a condition known as PKU.

I hope this helps.
Andy…

Q: Some advice and help really please?
okay well Im on olanzapine 7.5mg for phsycotic symptoms and fluoxetine for depression 20mg, i was recently diagnosed with clinical depression but developed further into physosis symptoms as it was left untreated for so long, i havealredy been for about 4 assesments and have another on monday at the hospital with the early intervention team.

Im currently with child and adoslent mental health team and i feel so comfterble with them and my GP who i trust alot, i dont want to change but can they offer more help and what will they do over the course of what time? A: what were the outcome of your other assessments?
what help have they offered you, other than medication?

they wont put you in hospital unless you a danger to yourself/others.
have they not given you a care plan or crisis team?

ask them what they have to offer you to get better, when/where you will recieve help. how long the course is likely to last and how often you will be seen, and who to see in an emergancy…….

tell them what you want and expect from them.

any more help just ask, been there and still there

Q: Psychiatrist has written false information??
I was raped & nearly killed five years ago. After the court case I realised I was becoming depressed, so I was prescribed anti-depressants… which seemed to work great, and my life seemed OK.

A couple of years ago I was sacked from two jobs in quick succession, due to mood swings, I also had a disatrous, traumatic relationship. I saw my Dr again, but it wasn’t deemed an emergency, so I was put on a waiting list to see a psychiatrist.

I became more & more unwell. I started to ‘hear’ things, took no care of myself, was constantly anxious, scratched myself & eventually tried to hang myself. I was referred to crisis care – a psychiatrist came to my house, shoved some sleeping tablets & olanzapine down my throat & referred me to a day hospital.

This was in December 08. Afterwards the dr’s tried different meds & ended up diagnosing me with bipolar – based solely on my symptoms (never asked my history).

I became pregnant last October. I was taken off of meds. Since then my psychiatrist has said how well I’m doing. My CPN has said he thinks I may be able to live a normal life off of meds from now on.

My obstetrician questioned me being drug free & wrote in my notes she would be calling social services. My psychiatrist told me he put her straight – apparently he told her I don’t need meds, he didn’t think I was bipolar & they would visit me after baby is born to see how I am.

I’ve now received a copy of his letter. He never questions that I am bipolar (though he told me he did), he has stated I have been in the system for “several years” (never saw anyone till 12/2008), I have an extensive history of “dangerous self-harm” (I’d scratched myself with a needle when really stressed. but have no scars at all). He claims my behaviour “has been so dangerous as to require several admissions” – I have never EVER spent a single night in a psychiatric ward – voluntary or under section.

I asked my CPN who said that it does suggest I’d been an inpatient – which was wrong. He also said the Dr hadn’t chosen his words correctly – but just to tell the obstetrician & it’d be fine… well guess what she doesn;t believe me!

So what happens if theses lies find their way into social services hands? How can I get the truth out?

A: You should definitely take this into your own hands sooner rather than later – if you try to sort it out now before social services get involved it will reflect much better on you. You could ask for copies of all your notes which will specify exactly what treatment you’ve had and will prove that you’ve never been admitted, and get in touch with everyone you’ve had contact with – your doctors, the psychiatrist etc, and if there are any points where there notes don’t match up it will show that there’s something wrong with what they’ve said.

Co-operate with social services if they do come round, and get in touch with your citizens advice bureau for legal advice on what you can do. Could you also get a new doctor and a new referal to a psychiatrist for a second opinion – if your current one is this inept then maybe it’s better to have one that you trust for support in case you ever need it.
