Q: how can my disabled brother get cheaper zyprexa we just cant afford it?

A: www.pparx.org

you shoudl have asked your doctor and he should have told you

many meds can be split…you would have to research this..i have gotten conflicting info on meds–some info saying you can some saying you can’t..

when you do split–you never get a completelyt accurate dose so you need to make sure its okay to have some flcutuations

often anything time released can’t be split

Q: Nov-olanzepine exact same as the name brand version Zyprexa?
I take it for bipolar disorder..also wondering if novo olanzepine helps with anxiety and panic disroders? has anyone trued the generic version of Zyprexa? We had to get it because it was cheaper. I hope they work the same!

A: Novo-olanzapine, Zyprexa, Zlasta, Zolafren, & Olzapin are all brand names of the generic drug olanzipine.

There are studies that suggest effectivity of Zyprexa in treating anxiety disorder, panic disorder & post traumatic stress disorder although FDA hasn’t approved the use of this drug for those conditions yet.

Q: Help, what do I do. With insurance, Zyprexa is $75!?
I was just prescribed Zyprexa by my doctor. I went to a pharmacist to get it, but it was $75 so I definitely couldn’t afford it. Does anyone know how I can get it cheaper? If I can’t get it cheaper I won’t be able to take it.
I’m not sure if this is the right category, but Yahoo Answers suggested this one.

A: Start with your pharmacist, and ask them what other drugs would have the same effect, cheaper. Then, go back to your doctor, and ask them to change the prescription.

Q: What are the cheapest meds to be on for bipolar?
I have good insurance now, but I am always concerned about losing it and having to go on cheap drugs that I can afford.

Although I hate Lithium, I believe it is the cheapest, and I would need an antidepressant as well, so fluoxetine (generic) should be ok.

any other options? I am on Zyprexa as well, initially for psychosis, but now I think I am dependent on it although it is a low dose. Retail price for this med alone is about $400

What other inexpensive options do I have? I’ve taken Tegretol in the past and it seemed ok. Do they have generic in this drug?
I take Lamictal now as a mood stabilizer and that one is expensive as well.

A: If you lose your ins, you can go on medical assistance. They pay for some brand names and most generic drugs. I have MA and my copays are between $2-6 each pill per month.

You can always discuss this is your doc.

A: Call different pharmacies and try to get a better price. Also, see if you get it through mail order, a lot of insurance companies allow you to get your meds through mail order for a reduced co-pay. Check your insurance’s website.

Also, if you are just trying it,try only asking for a week or two’s worth because it may not work and it sucks to spend the money when it doesn’t work or is horrible.
