Q: How can I get zyprexa online?
My doctor in my hometown wrote me a prescription and I’m running low. Now I don’t have insurance and can’t afford to go to a new doctor (since I moved across state) for a prescription. Does anyone know of a website where I can get it without a new prescription being written?
I actually got so depressed that I lost 20lbs. which is why my doc gave me zyprexa –so gaining weight isn’t an issue. But zoloft had really adverse side effects for me. Zyprexa seems to be the best thing I respond to….

A: There should be a community mental health center within a short distance of you. They will charge you little or nothing for getting an Rx. They also have social workers that can set you up with plans for getting meds for low or no costs. But you will have to ask for what you need. A lot of people just do the minimum to get through their day. This includes nurses and social workers. So be sure to ask if there are programs available. If you don’t get answers at the first place try another. The Web site for your state department of health is another good resource to use to find clinics and benefits. Zyprexa in not the flavor of the month in the mental health field. It is expensive and has some major side effects. Have you tried other cheaper drugs. Never be reluctant to ask a doctor for the cheapest drug that he thinks will help you. Doctors tend to prescribe what ever the last thing they heard about from the dug rep.

Q: how can you get free samples of zyprexa if my doctors office dont have any?
my doctors office dont have any samples and i tried a free clicnic that helps people get medication but they dont help with zprexa cause it cost 600 dollars and i got a coupon online but only covered 100 dollars

A: Try this website.

Q: Does Zyprexa Zydis cause weight gain?
Online, I’m seeing mixed results so I wanted to know, do the zyprexa zydis cause weight gain or are they more weight neutral?

A: Hiya Andy. I was given Zyprexa to add a “boost” to my antidepressants. What it did was cause a 60 pound weight gain in three months! Most people I know that take it have serious weight gain with it.
But you might be one of the lucky ones that aren’t affected.

Q: Zyprexa does it lower or increase sertonin?
I couldn’t find this info anywhere online. One website just says “Zyprexa works to reduce symptoms of schizophrenia by blocking various serotonin and dopamine receptors.”…

Does that mean it DECREASES those levels? The doc gave it to me for depression and OCD, and he even said “i believe you have very low sertonin levels”…

But if it decreeases sertonin and dopamine, wouldn’t that just make me more depressed?!?! Or does it raise sertonin and dopamine?

BTW, he gave it to me as “Symbyax” which is a combo of Prozac + Zyprexa.

A: Symbyax like you said is a combination of Prozac and Zyprexa. Both those medications work differently. Prozac is an SSRI. It works by boosting the levels of serotonin available in the brain by preventing nerve cell 1 from taking back up serotonin so nerve cell 2 can receive it. Zyprexa blocks dopamine and does affect serotonin but I don’t remember how. It will regulate you because Zyprexa is approved by the FDA as a mood stabilizer in bipolar (not that I’m saying you are bipolar). I don’t think this a bad treatment option for right now if you really need to get stable fast. It just takes a few days to adjust to the side effects. Just remember to have your blood sugar tested at least once every 6 months because Symbyax can affect blood sugar levels. I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything works out. I hope this medication works for you.

Q: chantix drug interactions?
I just got prescribed Chantix so I can quit smoking. I have a few questions about the other medications I’m taking and if there will be any bad side effects.

First off, I am Bipolar I so I take Depakote ER, Seroquel XR, and Zyprexa, every night. I am also prescribed Suboxone because I am a recovering heroin addict (no rude comments please). On the box of the Chantix it says “Call your doctor if you experience mood changes, sadness, depression or fear”. This somewhat worries me because I already am a manic depressive. Even though I’m on medication to control this, would it affect me?

I couldn’t find the answer to this online so I figured it was worth a shot.

Thanks for any help!!

A: Its good to get away from using tobacco, but I would not use chantix as its mental effects are unpredictable. You would be much safer to use a nicotine product.

Your using two antipsycotic drugs Seroquel XR and Zyprexa, as mentioned in the FDA label information the overlap of using antipsycotics together should be minimized. If I were to drop one it would be Zyprexa. Each drug does promote diabetes so the lowest dose you can get by with the better.

Depakote ER promotes liver disease, so avoid alcohol and tylenol type products containing acetaminophen. Lithium would be a safer choice but long term lithium use is hard on the kidneys. The drug companies should have some protocal to let people get off lithium to give the kidneys a vacation, but I have seen no plan to that effect published in the literature.

here is the chantix FDA literature, it will answer your interaction questions:

Q: Why is Concerta giving me very weird (unreported) side effects?
I have been on Concerta ER 36mg for about 5 days now for my Adult ADHD. I am a 23 y.o. male. Some of the weird side effects I have had and not found online are:

* Being Paranoid
* Memory Loss
* Eyes Seem Out of Focus
* Signs of Dyslexia (in speech, typing, and writing, which I never had before)
* Extra-Phlegm in my throat

I have looked up all these symptoms, and couldn’t find similar cases. I did have depression when I was 13, which the doctor claimed that he though I had since I was an infant. When I was 13-15 I took Celexa and for a short time Zyprexa (for less than a month) and I got over my depression. I also have un-diagnosed social anxiety, which is worse on the medication.

I have tried Adderall before (when I was in High School), but not for more than a few days in a row and didnt have these symptoms. Adderall made me feel more focused. Concerta ingredients seem to be very similar to Adderall, so I am confused with these symptoms.

Did I just not take the Adderall long enough to see these effects before, or are these from the Concerta ingredients alone?

Is it even possible that the Concerta is bringing out some kind of other condition?

I am an intelligent person, and the only learning problems I ever had were maybe issues with Math. I took longer than most to learn equations, but once I learned them they stuck.

What’s the deal?

(Another thing, can I just stop taking Concerta ER for a day or two to see how things change, or would it be better to see if these are just side effects that go away?)
Also, I do feel a little speedy, but then again, even from day 1, my sleep was as normal as ever.

A: Paranoia and Eye sign are side effects. Everyone reacts to pills differently maybe concerta isin’t right for you. Try adderall.

Q: My 9 y.o. son was diagnosed as being Bi-Polar…?
{manic depressive / stage 2 / ADD}

What does this mean for the rest of his life? Will he always have this and need treatment and meds? The Dr. put him on Zyprexa to start and so he can gain weight.

Also what can we {family} do for him? Should we change our approach too or over time will things get better on their own?

I’ve been looking online but I was hoping for more of a personal response from others dealing with this in children.

Hes SMART! Actually above grade level when tested but has trouble completing any task or school work and he does not hurt others or animals.

♥ I just wanna help my little boy live a normal life. =}
EVERYONE!!! Thank you soooo much!!! And yes this is the second Dr we’ve seen. =} I wanted to be sure bc this does run in both mine and my husbands family. {my husband to be exact}. He’s only on 2.5 mg ONCE a day right now. I do not want to over medicate my son thats my main concern too.

Thanks for all the helpful insight!
Well I started my son on the meds! This has been the most calmest household Ive had for over 8 years!!!! His teacher called me Thurs and Fri to tell me this is the best my son has been since Aug when school started!!! He said he loves himself and his new person!!! Thanks so much to everyone for your advice and input! You’ve helped me more than you’ll ever know!!!

A: i also have bipolar disorder and i was diagnosed when i was 16. believe me its better that he was diagnosed early. i was depressed for many years before we found out the underlying condition. and yes he will need to be on meds the rest of his life. i used to think that i would grow out of it but then i relapsed without my meds and almost committed suicide. and i was always above my class too until the depression started interfering. all you need to do is make sure you have great communication with him so you know when he’s not on his a game because that may mean he needs a change in meds. just be understanding and try not to be too strict. and as long as he’s on meds he’ll be great. don’t worry about it, and like i said your lucky you caught this now.

A: 1) Your pharmacist is a great resource for drug interactions.
2) As for worsening your mood swings, I’d check with your psychiatrist first.

Good luck.
